Front sight for a 1940 vintage, Savage 22

I purchased a 1940 Savage Model 23 AA , 22 LR. The rifle came without a front sight. The dove tail sight blade that I purchased worked wonderfully. A bit of file work on the bottom and sides and the blade went in with just the right amount of force.

I bought a rear peep sight for my rifle and it cause it to shoot hight no matter how I adjusted it. I bought the 3/8" Dovetail Front Sogjt to fix the issue and it worked perfectly!

The sight took minor fitting into the dovetail. I have old eyes and the marbles front sights work best for me with peep sights. These are real high quality and look good on my rifle.

I purchased this product because it came in the right height needed to put my POI where it needed to be.
It is a great sight but beware: Even though it is advertised as being for a 3/8" dovetail, it came measuring oversized at .386".
You will have to fit it to your dovetail.
I did not have one of those little triangle files, so I put it in a vise upside down and filed down the base until it finally entered the dovetail and was able to be seated properly and snugly.
I am super happy with the results even though there is a space between the bottom of the sight and the top of the dovetail.
