Genuine walnut, not a dark walnut, but that's actually better, as one can always darken a little if desired. Dimensions and shape were identical to original Marlin 1895 forearm. Very little fitting on either end were needed. I wanted to replace the checkered original with a smooth one. Not a fan of checkering in general.
