Beautiful furniture - significant sanding needed to fit

Just like the stock, this is a major cosmetic upgrade fromt the gray lanimate, at least in my opinion. The suggestion on the site to have a gunsmith install it is 100% correct. The back end has ridges that need to fit into the grooves on the receiver, and the main channel also needed some sanding. I did some of the channel before giving up and sending it to my gunsmith. Even with his precision, the front still sits a hair above the cap. I don't mind - you have to look really close - but this is not a plug and play piece of furniture, at least not for the 1894. It is beautiful to the eyes, and feels great in the hand.

The forearm did not fit like a glove the way the stock did. I had to slowly sand down the v groove that fit the barrel until I got a perfect fit. Anyone who works with wood knows that heat and humidity change things and you deal with it. Overall it made my rifle very nice.

Refreshed my old 336 fore stock with new Walnut vs factory wood. It looks and feels excellent. I’m waiting to replace the buttstock with the same. Can’t wait till it becomes available again.
